Cars in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a individual who discovered a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then located many other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the community for information.

An important representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
