Iran Claims Assault on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
