Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts
The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global break, but will the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a range of guests.
For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' latest record, the new release, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday football team," he added.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Forecasts
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.
West Ham's sole away victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - can West Ham extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
A family member advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had great success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a danger.
Sutton's forecast: 2-1
The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.
Fulham have have plenty of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.
Their display in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.
However I am not do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who benefit from the {international break|
